Proverbs: Wisdom for Money
Thechurchcodaniel   -

Would you rather be rich or poor? If we are honest, we’d say rich. Now consider this? Would God rather you be rich or poor? If you are uncomfortable with that question, good! Because it’s the wrong question. In this sermon Pastor Byron teaches on wisdom for money from Proverbs and shows us that God is less concerned if you are rich or poor, and more concerned if you are wise or foolish.

SCRIPTURES FOR THE WEEK

Selected Proverbs, 1 Timothy 6:10, 2 Corinthians 8:9

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

Take 5 minutes to silently read over the section of scriptures to gather insight, questions, or discussion with the group before answering the questions.

QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK

1. Did you grow up in a rich family or poor family? How did that shape your view of money? Why would God rather you seek wisdom than riches? (Proverbs 3:13-16, 1 Tim 6:10)
2. Proverbs says that we are to worship God more than money. How does the Fear of the Lord change the way we view money?
3. After reading Proverbs would you say you are wise or foolish when it comes to your money? How does a theology of stewardship impact the financial decisions that you make? (Stewardship: everything I have really belongs to him)
4. What’s the difference between generosity (Proverbs 11:24-25) and tithing (Proverbs 3:9,10). Is it difficult for you to trust God when it comes to money? Discuss.
5. How does Jesus set the example of stewardship and wisdom? (2 Corinthians 8:9)

BONUS QUESTION: What would the church look like if everyone gave as God requires?
