Mark #21 : Jesus Calms the Storm
Mark 4:35-41 — Life is filled with storms: relational, physical, financial, even spiritual, but the good news is Jesus is sovereign over the storms. In this sermon Pastor Byron teaches that when you are looking for answers in the middle of the storm, the answer is always already in the boat.
SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK:
Mark 4:35-41
BEFORE YOU GET STARTED:
Take 5 minutes to silently read over the section of scripture to gather insight, questions, or discussion with the group before answering the questions.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
1. How did the disciples respond to the storms? How did Jesus respond to the storm?
2. What storms do you find yourself in now?
3. When you find yourself in a storm do you act like Jesus or the disciples?
4. How does Jesus calming the storm display Jesus’ sovereignty?
5. Jesus powerfully asks, “why are you so afraid?” How would you answer that?
CHALLENGE:
This week your challenge is meet with three people from the group and share with them the storms of life that make you fearful. Be honest and open with them about your situations and allow them to encourage you. Journal how it felt to be honest with another person and how it felt to have them be honest with you.
