Mark #31: Jesus Feeds the 4,000
Thechurchcodaniel   -

Mark 8:1-21 Some people come to Jesus for the wrong reasons. In this sermon Pastor Byron will show us different ways people misunderstand who Jesus is and why Jesus came. Our prayer is that this message will be a blessing and encouragement to you.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK:

Mark 8:1-21

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED:

Take 5 minutes to silently read over the section of scripture to gather insight, questions, or discussion with the group before answering the questions.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. What are some of the ways that you see people misunderstand the person of Jesus? How does this misunderstanding prevent people from coming to faith?
2. Why is it dangerous to seek a sign from heaven in order to prove that Jesus is God? What should the proper response be?
3. Jesus performs two miraculous feedings of crowds (See Mark 7). In one chapter, the disciples had forgotten Jesus’ provision. What are some of the reasons we forget about the works of Jesus? Discuss.
4. How does a person get a hard heart? Has your heart been hardened towards Jesus?
5. Which of the characters in the story do you most identify with? The crowds, the Pharisees, or the disciples? Explain their understanding and what prevents you from coming to him.

CHALLENGE:
This week your challenge is to have a faith conversation with one of your three people Before the conversation happens, take the time to pray the person by name. During the conversation listen to their understanding of who Jesus is. Do not seek to argue or debate, but to listen. Following the conversation extend an invite to church or another meeting. Come ready to discuss next week at dinner how your conversation went.
